Amelia offers a powerful notification system to keep your customers and employees informed throughout the booking process. Notifications can be sent via Email, SMS, and WhatsApp, triggered by booking actions or scheduled before/after appointments and events.
All notification types support:
Automatic and scheduled sending
Separate templates for different appointment statuses
Custom notifications
Multilingual support — every notification can be translated into additional languages added in General Settings
Email notifications in Amelia are sent:
Instantly upon appointment status changes (booking, cancellation, rescheduling, etc.);
At scheduled intervals before or after appointments or events (requires cron setup);
To customers, employees, or both.
Each email template can be enabled/disabled independently. Email is ideal for longer, formatted content using dynamic placeholders to personalize the message.

SMS notifications function the same way as email in terms of timing and triggers. They:
Are sent to customers and employees;
Are non-interactive – users cannot reply to these messages;
Should be shorter in content (character count increases the price of each message).

WhatsApp templates are supported via Meta’s API integration that requires manual setup. Like email and SMS, messages can be triggered by appointment or event changes.
Please note:
WhatsApp templates must be pre-approved by Meta;
Customers cannot reply directly to these messages;
You’ll need a verified Meta Business Account.

The Notification Settings page allows you to control how notifications are sent, who receives them, and how they behave in various situations.
Here’s what you’ll be able to configure:
Mail service (PHP, SMTP, Mailgun, WP Mail)
Sender name and reply-to address
Default “Notify customer(s)” behavior
Redirect URLs on cancellation
Forwarding notifications to additional email addresses or phone numbers
Cron setup for scheduled messages

To send reminders before or after appointments or events, Amelia relies on scheduled notifications. These require a cron job to run in the background and trigger emails or SMS messages at the right time.
