SMS notifications offer a quick, reliable way to reduce no-shows and ensure important updates are seen. They’re customizable, can be sent instantly or on a schedule, and are great for short, time-sensitive messages.
SMS notifications can be sent:
Immediately after an action (like booking or cancellation)
At a scheduled time after an appointment or event
At a fixed time of day (e.g. next-day reminders)
Scheduled messages require a properly configured cron job.

SMS notifications are one-way: customers cannot reply.
Unlike email notifications, SMS messages are typically short and sent in plain text. They can still be translated using the language dropdown (top-right) if multiple languages are enabled in General Settings. Amelia sends the version that matches the customer’s language selection during booking.

SMS notifications are supported in most countries, but there are important limitations depending on your recipient's location.
Amelia’s SMS system uses an external messaging service, and based on local telecom regulations:
Some countries fully support SMS delivery, including custom sender IDs
In some countries, SMS can be delivered, but Alphanumeric Sender ID is not allowed
A few countries currently do not support SMS delivery at all
